Hello there. My name is Anny Gomes.
I love to talk, write and connect with people.
I have been a movie critic since I can remember, I used to save my lunch money to rent movies at my favorite VHS stores in Brazil; and once I was inside them, there was no way you could get me out of there.
After school, walking home, I was always encouraged not to rent movies during the week but I always did and hid it in my backpack anyway. I guess my parents stopped caring about it even if I went back home with a bag full of movies with skulls in its covers.
My goal was to go through every movie until there were no more left unseen at the store. I started writing in my movie journal back then and giving stars to all the movies I watched. Funny enough, I remember first rating the movie It and giving it 5 stars. I kept rating everything in my little notebook since I was 6, some ratings I still agree and some are oh-so shameful.
Years have passed and this passion is a big part of me. I learned different languages while watching TV and movies and it significantly changed the way I related to the world. I have lived in different cities and countries, worked in production companies, random industries and departments all around the globe, I am a gypsy at heart.
This website is an attempt to look that 6-year old in the eyes and tell her that she is still doing what she loves, watching movies. It is easy to get caught up in the world by forgetting what you like to do. This is me trying to get back home while living in the other side of the world.
